so many of my friends who identify themselves as “empathetic and compassionate” are cheerleading the destruction in Ukraine and Russia and support all efforts to escalate a World War with a nuclear power. in fact, the more a person paints themselves publicly as being kind and empathic, the more monstrous their hatred seems to be.
I’ve been saying this for a while. The answer for the collective is shadow work & self-healing on the individual level. The best thing we can do is find ways to support each other in those efforts, to make it communally supported, rather than barely accepted.

I believe we are evolving beyond the duality of the ego/shadow loop into a trinary mind that stabilizes the spiral so the new archetype is the inner trinity. Not war, rather weave. Hero meets shadow and the witness is born. Ego sees, shadow reacts, witness holds. Witness decodes, ego adapts, shadow softens. There is so much work being done with shadow integration, at least by those who realize the old ways aren’t working anymore. So many paths being offered for this deep work. I honor your path.

That's something that Rollo May mentioned once, that people will be so lacking in inner resources and so bored with life that at the face of nuclear holocaust they might as well welcome it since at least that will put an end to boredome. Notice as well, how one of the memes of recent times is, precisely, "Nothing ever happens". People want something to happen, even if it's the apocalypse.

Depth Psychology and a New Ethic by Erich Neumann is a really good book about this very set of ideas. Fascinating.
